Looking at what would have been part of a record crop of wheat before the Substation wildfire consumed nearly 80k acres of ripe wheat, destroyed homes and killed one man. The fire started near The Dalles, Oregon affected farmers in the Dufur area, crossed the Deschutes River and continued into the wheat fields of Sherman County, Oregon. This image shows the nature of the fire that left little islands of wheat standing.
